Your skin is the largest organ in your body, and it’s also the only outer organ that’s visible to yourself and others. Because your skin covers your body from top to toe, it undoubtedly plays a huge part in your overall appearance. When your skin is healthy and hydrated you will look healthy, whereas if your skin is dry, run down and tired, you’ll look worse for wear. But, how do you look after your skin so that you can restore it to its once youthful and healthy condition? We’ve listed some of the best simple yet effective skincare tips.

See a Dermatologist

Visit the London Dermatology Centre where they offer a range of skin treatments such as microdermabrasion, facial rejuvenation, and facial peels if you feel that your skin is in need of a ‘quick fix’. If your skin is particularly dry or irritated, it’s also a good idea to see your doctor or a skin specialist as this could be a symptom of a skin condition that you’re unaware of. Your skin is a vital part of your body, so anything that doesn’t seem right should be checked out as soon as possible.

Drink More Water

When it comes to keeping your skin hydrated, most people think of lathering on the moisturising cream before going to bed. However, you can keep your skin fairly hydrated even if you’ve forgotten to bring your moisturiser along or have come to the end of your tub of cream, simply by drinking lots of water. Keeping your body hydrated is a must as a huge percentage of the water that you drink is needed by your skin. So, keep your water bottle refilled and even swap your morning Starbucks for a bottle of water to save some money too!

Moisturising

Even if you’re drinking plenty of water, it can’t hurt to make sure that your skin is well hydrated by applying moisturiser, especially if the weather is cold outside or if you’ve just stepped out of the shower and your skin feels dried out, for example. Using a good moisturiser can also double up as sun protection if you get one containing SPF, for full protection from the harmful UV rays of the sun all year round. And, using a good night cream will allow you to wake up feeling refreshed with soft, hydrated skin every morning.

Watch Your Diet

As we begin the New Year, many of us have made resolutions to be healthier when it comes to our diets this year. With junk food so readily available, eating healthily can often be a chore for many people rather than a necessity. However, sticking to a balanced and healthy diet doesn’t mean that you can’t treat yourself in moderation, as this is actually encouraged. And, by eating more foods that are rich in protein, nutrients, antioxidants, omega-3 and monounsaturated fatty acids, you will be able to watch your skin, health and even your weight improve!

Your skin is the largest organ in your body, so make sure to look after it!
